The policeman held out his hand to support her. After a moment of hesitation, she put her hand in his. With the other, she gathered up her skirt and then took two brave steps forward. It was a pleasant feeling to have solid ground under her feet again. Her eyes wandered along the footbridge that led into a passage. Oil lamps tried with their weak light to illuminate the surroundings. However, there wasn't much that could be done about the darkness.
"How huge must this cave be that I can't see the walls?"
The thought made her shiver for some reason. "Please stay close?" Said the policeman. Elenor nodded before following him. What was she getting into?
