The Dragon
Laughter and screeching came to Sayuri's ear. About fifteen children had gathered in front of the small tent with the stage. They crouched or stood in a semicircle around it and watch what was unfolding there. Dolls danced back and forth on strings, apparently fighting each other. They were strange characters. A figure on a horse, completely wrapped in metal, with a long spear. Even the horse wore metal armor. They fought against a creature that resembled the dragons. The figure had wings and a scaly body, but was nowhere near as narrow and elegant as the dragons. The figure just lifted its head and fire shot out of its mouth. The children cheered enthusiastically as the struggle reached its climax. Sayuri turned away smiling. She had to admit that it was an impressive trick. Her sister would have been thrilled.
