More than you can see
Ayane slowly let her index finger slide down the glass inch by inch. She felt the smooth surface, the fine hairline cracks. She heard the grains of sand slowly trickling down. Thoughtfully, she cocked her head to one side as she weighed the hourglass in her hand. In the blackness she could see the picture of the hourglass in front of her. It wasn't a memory. She had never seen such a device up close. But she still knew that the sand was white as snow. She felt the demon's eyes on her. Heard the rustling of the raven wings. "What do you see?"
Ayane paused. Of course, she saw the hourglass. Even if it surprised her in what details, she had suspected something like that. So it was not a surprise. Before she could answer, she paused a little. She called back the inner picture of the hourglass. Focused again on the details. A face suddenly appeared in the sand. Then a scene. She saw a swordswoman with her sword drawn in front of a huge blue demon. Everything burned around her. The flames rose, almost blowing up the hourglass. With an outcry, Ayane dropped the hourglass.
"I promised you that you would see more than before. And I keep my promises"
Ayane breathed heavily as she stood there in her darkness. Which path had she taken?
