I would like to anticipate that I do not have much experience with poetry. Of course I know what I like and what I don't like, but I rarely read collections of poetry. With that said, I found Ashley Gallaher-Pollard's book pleasant to read. I didn't read it in one session because, as I said, I'm not used to reading poetry. But for a moment of calm with beautiful texts, it was very nice. I would say that most of the poetry is very well done. Some didn't really speak to me and others made me think, dream and linger.
You can tell that the author has a certain aesthetic when it comes to her writing style, which is very unique to her. I think people who enjoy poetry should give the book a try. And for readers like me, there will be some nice moments too. Based on my personal preference, I am therefore giving the book

This ghost story is the first that has kept me awake at night in a long time. Not only because of the creepy elements, but also because of the descriptions and the backgrounds of the characters. The author manages to create a mood of tension from the first minute. It was clear that something must have happened in his past, but the unfolding of the story and the ghosts was both uncomfortable and scary to read.
I'll admit, I'm still not entirely sure I got the ending right, but the atmosphere, characters, and setting kept me trapped. And I'm sure I'll come back to this Irish ghost story again.
